2026 Silverado 1500 Engines and Powertrain

The Silverado 1500 offers four engines, each paired with an automatic transmission. The 2.7L TurboMax four-cylinder is the standard engine on the lower trims, making 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque through an 8-speed automatic. The 5.3L V8 (355 horsepower, 383 lb-ft) is the lineup's most popular engine and comes standard on LTZ and High Country. The 6.2L V8 (420 horsepower, 460 lb-ft) is the gas performance option, and the available 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel makes 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque while returning an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined, the most efficient choice in the lineup. The 5.3L, 6.2L, and Duramax all use a 10-speed automatic.

Engine choice is more flexible than the trim names suggest. The V8s and the diesel can be configured across much of the lineup, the Duramax comes standard on the ZR2, and the right engine depends mainly on how much you tow and how many highway miles you run. From LT and up, the Silverado 1500 runs a 13.4-inch diagonal touchscreen and a 12.3-inch reconfigurable driver display, with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an available Wi-Fi hotspot; the WT and Custom use a 7-inch screen with wireless smartphone connectivity. High Country buyers can add Super Cruise, the hands-free driver assistance system that operates on compatible highways. • Lowest cost of entry or job-site work: the WT or Custom with the 2.7L TurboMax, which still tows 9,500 lbs and carries the lineup's highest payload.
• Daily-driver sweet spot: the LT Crew Cab with the 5.3L V8, the most popular combination in the lineup.
